Maintaining Your Certification

Recertification Requirements

HACP professionals must renew their certification every two years by completing 24 continuing education units (CEUs) in subjects related to accreditation standards or CMS Conditions of Participation.

Acceptable CEU Sources

• Seminars and educational programs focused on accreditation or regulatory compliance
• Web-based self-study modules
• CIHQ-HACP's complimentary continuing education program

Continuing education units may be earned through CIHQ or other eligible educational providers, provided the content meets accreditation and regulatory criteria.
